「家」は目的地ではなく、旅立ちの場所だ。僕らは「家」を起点にこの魅力溢れる地球の上を旅していく。人によっては地球を飛び立ち宇宙へ行くことだってある。さらに心の宇宙を旅することだってある。
人生は航海のようなもの、そんな言葉をよく聞くけど、人生は港に着いても終わることがない永遠に続く旅なのだ。（トラベラーズノートがリフィルを交換することで永遠に使い続けられることと似ているような気がする）
僕ら旅人は、「家」で生まれることで世界と向かい合い、そして自分の意思で自由に永遠の旅に出る。For all the travelers who have a free spirit. うん、なんだかトラベラーズノートのテーマのようだ。
トラベラーズノートの無垢で温かみを感じる佇まいは、僕を奮い立たせて、捜し求めている何かへと導いてくれるような気がするのだ。まるで相棒のように時間を共有し、革にはその証として傷が刻まれていく。封を開けたばかりのトラベラーズノートは、使い手の物語がそこに描かれるのを待っている真っ白なキャンバスのようだ。
雄大なコロンビア川が流れるアンダーウッド山の麓に住んでいた7歳の頃、母が革のバッグを作ってくれた。それは猟師が使うような形のシンプルで機能的なバッグで、僕は憧れの放浪者の気分になることができた。グリズリー・アダムスやデイヴィッド・クロケット（どちらもアメリカ開拓時代の英雄）になった気分で暗い森を探検していた。
その頃、母は僕に日記を書かせようとしたけど、きっとグリズリー・アダムスはそんなことをしなかっただろうから、僕も書いたりしなかった。そんな僕に日々の記録を書くことを習慣付けてくれたのもトラベラーズノートだ。
もちろん、他にも考えをまとめたり、これからの計画を綴ったり、ちょっとしたメモやスケッチ、デザインのアイデアを書き留めたりすることに使っている。
Hello…much like you, I treasure a place called “home”. Home, as special as it is, isn’t our destination. Home is a place to travel from, a reference point from which to explore this curious planet…and beyond. In the very cosmos of our spirit journeys the soul of a pilgrim. We are travelers through life. You’ve heard it said, “Life is a voyage!” We travelers never really reach our destination (the very concept of the “TRAVELER’S notebook refills” illustrates this experience). Eternity is in our hearts. Home is about relationships and life is the landscape of those relationships. Our purpose/destination is to truly live! Hmmm, sounds like the theme of TRAVELER’S notebook & company: “For all travelers who have a free spirit.”
The TRAVELER’S notebook goes beyond utilitarianism to “companionship.” The TRAVELER’S notebook’s remarkable design and thoughtful excellence inspires my soul’s seeking of space, margins, and transcendence. Like a true friend it shares with me in every nick, scratch, dent and spot. The TRAVELER’S notebook is a blank canvas that awaits your story. In the winter of 2012 I stumbled across the TRAVELER’S notebook while surfing the web. My attention was immediately captured by its beautiful simplicity. Suddenly *poof* my computer is home to a collection of 20,000 + TRAVELER’S notebook images. And so I became the proud owner of a TRAVELER’S notebook…and within a short time, a collection of TRAVELER’S notebooks. If you have a black one, then you want a brown one.
If you have a brown one, the blue one is a must! A passport size version? Yes! Oh, and then I heard tell of a 5th Anniversary Camel edition. Its beauty beguiles and bewitches even the most stringent of misers. The resolution to don my traveler’s cloak and set off in search of the legendary, mythical 5th Anniversary edition settled and hardened like beloved mud on a pilgrim’s boots.
Perhaps leather’s hold on me goes back to my childhood. At the age of 7 (and living on the rim of Underwood mountain, overlooking the majestic Columbia River Valley in the USA) my mother sewed for me a buckskin trapper bag. It was a simple survival tool for “a wandering man” (at that age I was often on some expedition into the shadowy forest as the bearded Grizzly Adams or the daring Davy Crocket). Mother always tried to motivate me to write in a journal but ol’ Grizzly Adams never got into it…until now. In my profession as a spiritual mentor serving young people the TRAVELER’S notebook serves me a non-intrusive, yet appropriate instrument while I’m scribbling notes as I listen to their journeys.
メンタルカウンセラーの修士号を取得後、児童カウンセラーとして仕事をはじめる。そのかたわらウェブデザインやマーケティングを学んだ経験を活かし、デザインはメッセージと人をつなげる媒体であるという考えのもと、デザイン、写真、イラストの仕事も行っている。トラベラーズノートの熱烈なファンとして、自身のサイトにて様々な発信を行っている。
Based on his experience in web design and marketing from his college career, he also engages in designing, photo taking, and drawing illustrations as part of his career. This is all done based on his belief that design is a media that connects the message and people.
