特にホワイトとターコイズブルーのコンビは僕の大好きなカラーリングで、傍らを走るスクーターボーイのオレンジとも愛称の良い色。
表4には僕のブランドのロゴを入れてみました。
備忘録の表紙にはたくさんのスクーターボーイズを走らせターコイズのフラッシュラインをあしらいました。
正直なところ、今春トラベラーズノートと出会うまでは、随分と手帳を使う習慣から離れていました。
会社員時代とは違い、仕事の打ち合わせはA4～A3サイズのプロジェクトペーパーを使うようになったし、レジメに直接書き込むケースも多いため携帯の必要がなくなっていったのです。
ただ、昨今漢字を部分的に忘れると言う由々しき事態に襲われ出し、ペンによる文章を定期的に書かなくてはという危機感が生まれていたため、備忘録でもつけねばと決心していた矢先でもありました。
また、よく利用する海外のオークションの一定期間でデリートされてしまう入札・落札履歴をオフラインに変換しておく必要性にも駆られていたため、それらにもトラベラーズノートを利用することにしました。
備忘録はお見せできませんが、十数年前までつけていた手描きによる日記がいかに今の仕事に役立っているかということを再認識、漢字忘れも徐々に治癒しつつあります。
落札したもの、逃したものをこうしてイラストとともに描きとめてゆくと、また似たような品物を入札する際とても役に立ちますね。こうして見るとサイズもジャスト、こちらはさしずめオークション備忘録です。
僕は描線を描いた後、グレーのマーカーで重ね塗りをしながら陰影を着けるので、マス目ノートにも厚手コピー紙のようなテクスチャーのものがラインナップされると裏写りしなくて良いかもしれません。

Back in the 1960s, double stripes like this were used in many items such as surfboards, cars, drizzle jackets and other clothes, and even guitars. My top favorite color combination is white and turquoise blue, and it goes well with the orange of the scooter boy driving beside the stripes. My TRAVELER’S has my brand’s logo on its back cover (in Table 4). On the cover to the memo section, I drew many scooter boys, with a line of turquoise blue running next to them.
Honestly, I lost the habit of using a diary for a long time until I encountered the TRAVELER’S notebook this spring. Unlike the years when I was working at a company as an employee, in my current work, I use grid paper of A4 and A3 size at business meetings, and also I often jot down my memos directly in syllabuses. So, I had no need to carry a diary for long.
Yet recently, I faced a crisis – I forgot some parts of Chinese characters, and sensed the urgent need to begin writing something with a pen, regularly. So, I decided to carry a memo or something. Right then, I met up with TRAVELER’S.
Also, I am a regular user of a certain auction website outside Japan, and I needed to make offline records of offers and successful bids, whose history is erased after some time. I decided to write them down in my TRAVELER’S. Well, I don’t dare show you my memos, but I used to keep a handwritten diary more than a dozen years ago. Now, I see how this diary is actually helping me out at work today. And many Chinese characters I forgot are coming back to me.
I write down bids I successfully won as well as those I missed, with illustrations. These records are very helpful when I try to win a similar offer next time. You see, TRAVELER’S is just the right size. This one I might call my Auction Memo.
In illustration, I first draw the outlines and then add over-glazed shades with gray markers. So, I always need some grid-section paper with the texture of thick photocopy paper to prevent a strike-through.
I am now customizing my beloved scooter from Italy, a Lambretta. With my TRAVELER’S in the rear carrier, I’ll hit the road!
