店名のMaison Godillotは、店の創設者のカミーユさんとユイさんが暮らす場所でもあるイエール・レ・パルミエの中心部にあるアールヌーボー建築の邸宅に由来しています。この建物の随所に感じられるアーツ・アンド・クラフツの精神に共鳴し、手仕事を讃える場所だと感じたそうです。
彼らが丹念に探し、慎重にセレクトされたショップのラインアップは、先祖代々の受け継がれてきた技を継承した職人たちの手によるものが多くあります。それらは自然の中でサステナブルな形で生まれているプロダクトでもあり、現代の人たちにもしっかりインスピレーションを与えてくれます。
また、そうやって集められたプロダクトは、機能的でミニマルな美しさを持っています。少し高価なものかもしれませんが、たくさんのものに囲まれるよりも、最高のものが少しだけあればいいという哲学をもとにセレクトしています。
長く使い続けることができることができて、さらに次世代にも受け継がれるかもしれない。Maison Godillotではそういったものを扱いたいと考えています。

Maison Godillot はフランスや日本の職人と会ったり、工房を訪ねたりするためによく旅をします。トラベラーズノートに出会ったのは、成田空港でした。
それからは、トラベラーズノートは彼らの旅の必須アイテムとなりました。ダイアリーに旅や日々の予定を書き込んだり、打ち合わせの時にメモを取ったりするのはもちろん、旅先で手に入れた名刺やチケット、デザインが気に入った素敵なタグ、生地サンプル、色見本など、いろいろなものをノートに貼ったり、ジッパーケースに入れたりして使っています。帰国後は、旅ごとに分類して箱に保管し、旅の記録を残すなど、まさに旅のアシスタントとして大活躍しています。

Maison Godillot takes its name from an emblematic residence of Art Nouveau architecture, in the heart of the city of Hyères-les-Palmiers, which became a living space for the founders of the store, Camille and Yui. Echoing the Arts and Crafts spirit infused by their house, they imagined a place that celebrates the work of the hand. Patiently unearthed, carefully chosen, the products offered are the work of craftsmen with ancestral know-how but whose inspiration is firmly rooted in our time. They are a natural part of a responsible and sustainable production trend. Coming from all over the world and inspired by great functionalism, these objects blend harmoniously to form a selection with minimal aesthetics. These craftsmen give life to high quality objects, created with care and made to stand the test of time by sublimating themselves. Unique objects with discreet but certain luxury, they are self-sufficient and fit into a philosophy of the little, but the best. Some will accompany you for a long time, perhaps you will even pass them on, that is the whole spirit of Maison Godillot.

At Maison Godillot, we travel a lot to encounter artisans and visit workshops in France as well as in Japan. We met TRAVELER’S notebook for the first time at Narita Airport. TRAVELER’S notebooks became ubiquitous in our many travels. We used it to plan our trips and appointments in the calendar, take notes during our meetings, as well as to keep business cards, transportation tickets, nice tags that we loved the design of, fabrics samples, color swatches…and many other things that we stick or put in the zip pouches. We use it as a real travel assistant and on our return, we archive the notebooks in cardboard boxes classified by trip, in order to keep a trace of the experience.

VILLA NOAILLES（建物）
1920年代、芸術のパトロンであったシャルル＆マリー＝ロール・ド・ノアイユのために建てられたこの近代建築遺産は、現在アートセンターとして活躍しています。年間を通じて、ファッション、デザイン、建築、写真の分野で展覧会やフェスティバル、ワークショップなどを開催しています。常設展では、ノアイユ邸の所有者の歴史を感じさせてくれる家具や美術品のコレクションに加え、1920年代から1960年代までの前衛芸術（ダリ、マン・レイ、コクトー、ブニュエルなど）を紹介しています。

Built in the 1920’s for Charles et Marie-Laure de Noailles, patrons of the arts, this example of the modern architectural heritage is now an art centre of national interest and presents exhibitions, festivals and workshop all year in the fashion, design, architecture and photography fields. Through a collection of furniture and artworks, a permanent exhibition is dedicated to the history of the villa Noailles and its previous owners, covering the avant-garde from the 1920’s to the 1960’s (Dalì, Man Ray, Cocteau, Buñuel…).

Le Parc Olbius Riquier（庭園）
1868年にオルビウス・ヒポリット・アントワーヌ・リキエから町に贈られた19世紀の伝統的なスタイルの庭園です。広大な芝生、大木、曲がりくねった路地、湖に加え、熱帯植物や南方の鳥を育てるために設計された温室があります。
もともとこの庭園は、熱帯地域から採取した種子を育て、この地域の気候に適応するように品種改良の研究するための場所として作られました。1869年にパリの多くの庭園を手掛けている、造園家ピエール・バリエ＝デシャンとジョルジュ・オーモンによる設計です。

This traditional 19th century landscaped garden was Olbius Hippolyte Antoine Riquier’s gift to the town in 1868. It comprises of 17 acres of lawns, large trees, winding alleys and even a lake and a greenhouse designed for tropical plants and birds. A convention linking it to Paris’ Jardin d’Acclimatation defines the garden as a place to grow, create and study the adaptation of tropical species to the climate of the region. The garden plans were drawn in 1869 by landscape architects Pierre Barillet-Deschamps and Georges Aumont who also worked on many Parisian gardens. Many exotic species of palm trees, bamboos and succulents are found there, as are a small zoo and a playground for children.
